I'm sure he's very familiar with the 1970 Fillmore East music. I read it that he didn't get around to revisiting the shows on their anniversary.

And I'm going to have to agree with him regarding 2/22/69. In spite of how great the performance is, I just don't have the patience to enjoy muddy '69 recordings, regardless of how great the music is.

But clementinescaboose is absolutely right about how much I'm looking forward to Charlie's new transfer of this show. I anticipate that 2/22/69 will be a new member of my top-ten list for 1969.

Ah okay, I should have known. I thought it was mighty odd that he hadn't heard those shows.

I always felt the playing on 2/22/69 was fantastic and fiery; Can't wait for the upgrade myself.

Ha yeah, I'm VERY familiar with the run, I meant that I just hadn't gotten around to revisiting them for the anniversary. Last night I got through the Alligator>>>Caution sequence from 2/14, and the Cryptical>>>Lovelight suite from 2/13. I'm saving the Dark Star for a special moment.

Never quite made it to the shorter early electric sets and stuff, and only got to a few of the acoustic songs. I'm really more of a jam guy, 1970 is a different story of course but when it comes to like '71 and up, I don't really listen to first sets. I have so much music, and listen to so many different things, there's only so much time and while great songs I quite frankly just often can't sit through a Mexicali>Big River every day. When I'm in the mood to hear GD music, it's for the improv, like a nice long 69 Star>>Eleven, or a 72 Truckin>Other One, etc.

Think I'm gonna give 2/11/70 a good listen tonight (that one always seems to get lost in the discussions of the run). Now the dilemma is which source to pick of the 5 or so I have? I actually kinda like the AUD best for that one, some of the guests get buried in the mix on the board tape. I'm sure a matrix of the two would suck, but I'd still like to see it tried.
